Robin visited Friends of Llanfairfechan Community Library to see first-hand how National Lottery funding is supporting community libraries across Conwy to thrive as accessible community hubs.
Friends of Llanfairfechan Community Library, a community group and charity, run by volunteers have recently received a £10,000 National Lottery grant to lead the ‘Renewal in Partnership’ project across five community libraries in Conwy. They will all work together to rebuild their volunteer and customer engagement, and support community renewal, post-Covid.
The grant will support the five community libraries in Conwy to build relationships, collaborate, and manage their libraries more effectively. It will also help them organise a variety of classes, groups, and activities for the community outside of core library hours.
Vanessa L Dye from Friends of Llanfairfechan Community Library, said:
“The Friends of Llanfairfechan Community Library welcome Mr Millar's interest in our ongoing aims and ambitions to use the generous funding. The funding will enable all five community libraries in Conwy to take forward our work on the ‘Renewal in Partnership’ project.”
Robin Millar MP, said:
“My congratulations to the community run libraries across Conwy in securing a £10,000 National Lottery grant for their 'renewal in partnership' project to improve access and usability for their communities. The Conwy Council research and their own understanding of the communities they serve were key factors in the success of their bid. I am grateful to the Deputy Chairman of the Friends of Llanfairfechan Library, Vanessa Dye for taking the time to explain how the money will provide mobile bookshelves, turning the library into a flexible meeting space suitable for a wide range of uses, identified by the community.”
John Rose, Wales Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said:
“We are proud to be the largest funder of community activity in the UK, and we are committed to supporting community groups and charities doing amazing things, like Friends of Llanfairfechan Community Library. This group play an important role in reinvigorating libraries whilst also providing volunteer engagement opportunities and creating safe spaces for people to share company, information, and resources."
Robin yn clywed sut mae Cyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan yn cefnogi adfywio cymunedol
Ymwelodd Robin â Chyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan i weld drosto’i hun sut mae cyllid y Loteri Genedlaethol yn cefnogi llyfrgelloedd cymunedol ledled Conwy i ffynnu fel canolfannau cymunedol hygyrch.
Mae Cyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan, elusen a grŵp cymunedol dan ofal gwirfoddolwyr, wedi derbyn grant o £10,000 gan y Loteri Genedlaethol yn ddiweddar i arwain y prosiect ‘Adfywio mewn Partneriaeth’ ar draws pum llyfrgell gymunedol yng Nghonwy. Byddant i gyd yn gweithio gyda’i gilydd i ailysgogi gwirfoddolwyr a chwsmeriaid i ymgysylltu, a chefnogi adfywio cymunedol, ar ôl Covid.
Bydd y grant yn cefnogi’r pum llyfrgell gymunedol yng Nghonwy i feithrin perthnasoedd, cydweithio a rheoli eu llyfrgelloedd yn fwy effeithiol. Bydd hefyd yn eu helpu i drefnu amrywiaeth o ddosbarthiadau, grwpiau a gweithgareddau ar gyfer y gymuned y tu allan i oriau craidd y llyfrgell.
Dywedodd Vanessa L Dye o Gyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan:
“Mae Cyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan yn falch bod gan Mr Millar ddiddordeb yn ein nodau a’n huchelgeisiau parhaus i ddefnyddio’r cyllid hael. Bydd y cyllid yn galluogi pob un o’r pum llyfrgell gymunedol yng Nghonwy i fwrw ymlaen â’n gwaith ar y prosiect ‘Adfywio mewn Partneriaeth’.”
Dywedodd Robin Millar AS:
“Rwy’n llongyfarch llyfrgelloedd cymunedol ledled Conwy ar sicrhau grant o £10,000 gan y Loteri Genedlaethol ar gyfer eu prosiect ‘adfywio mewn partneriaeth’ i wella mynediad a defnyddioldeb ar gyfer eu cymunedau. Roedd ymchwil Cyngor Conwy a’r ffaith ei fod yn deall y cymunedau y mae’n eu gwasanaethu yn allweddol i lwyddiant y cais. Rwy’n ddiolchgar i Ddirprwy Gadeirydd Cyfeillion Llyfrgell Llanfairfechan, Vanessa Dye, am roi o’i hamser i esbonio sut bydd yr arian yn talu am silffoedd llyfrau symudol, gan droi’r llyfrgell yn fan cyfarfod hyblyg sy’n addas ar gyfer amrywiaeth eang o ddibenion, a nodir gan y gymuned.”
Dywedodd John Rose, Cyfarwyddwr Cymru, Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol:
“Rydyn ni’n falch o fod y cyllidwr mwyaf ar gyfer gweithgarwch cymunedol yn y DU, ac rydyn ni wedi ymrwymo i gefnogi elusennau a grwpiau cymunedol sy’n gwneud pethau anhygoel, fel Cyfeillion Llyfrgell Gymunedol Llanfairfechan. Mae’r grŵp hwn yn chwarae rhan bwysig o ran adfywio llyfrgelloedd, gan gynnig cyfleoedd i wirfoddolwyr ymgysylltu a chreu mannau diogel i bobl fwynhau cwmni a rhannu gwybodaeth ac adnoddau.”
