Last week I was privileged to meet Lou, from Llanrwst.
She travelled down to Westminster with Hft, a national charity that creatively supports more than 2,200 adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible.
Central to my politics is looking out for the weakest and most vulnerable in society - and those who care for them - so I was keen to learn more.
Lou has been supported through Hft's L2mU service (see photo) which reaches about 60 people across north Wales.
Their "Lockdown on Loneliness" briefing also highlights some of the problems experienced by those 1.5 million adults in the UK living with a learning disability - problems heightened during the pandemic (see photos).
Lou and I also talked at length about her willingness to work and her reliance on public transport to connect to the jobs in Llandudno and Conwy. Removing later evening services prevents so many people from accessing those jobs.
She was also keen for people to understand the challenges little things (like a cancelled bus service) present to those with learning disabilities.
The time flew by and I came away with a list of actions agreed with Lou. But also reminded of the importance of connections - of so many kinds - to help us each "live the best life possible".
Thank you for your time, Lou! We will speak again soon.
