There’s good news for non-league men’s and women’s teams in Aberconwy.
The Football Foundation has launched a new £6.25m Matchday Support Fund for teams who play within the National League System, the FA Women's Pyramid and the Welsh Premier League. Grants will be available for clubs of between £2,000 and £20,000 depending on their level and size. This will support clubs affected by Covid and will provide them with financial support towards the costs of re-opening their stadiums, preparing for fixtures, and welcoming supporters to their games throughout the 2020/21 season.
The fund – part of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund funded by the Premier League – will be distributed by the Football Foundation and follow a similar application process as the successful 'Pitch Preparation Fund' (PPF) and the 'Club Preparation Fund' (CPF) to ensure that funding can be distributed quickly, with grant payments expected to be processed from 11 September.
The application window runs until Wednesday 16 September. For more information on eligibility and how clubs can apply, please visit the Matchday Support Fund page on the Football Foundation’s website. I hope that clubs in the constituency can take part in this fantastic opportunity to kick off the football season once more.
