Kinship care survey
Are you a kinship carer, raising the children of a relative or friend? @KinshipCarePT and @FamilyRightsGp would like to hear how you're managing during the latest #Covid19 lockdown. Please fill in this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/5YN3FZX
Kinship carers are relatives or family friends who step in to raise children who cannot safely live with their parents. Many are grandparents but can also be aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters.
There are more than 180,000 children across the UK being raised by kinship carers. We know that kinship households are particularly vulnerable in the pandemic, with many carers older in age, having long term health difficulties, and living in poverty.
There are many more children raised in kinship care than in the care system and many more than are adopted, yet compared to adopters and unrelated foster carers, kinship carers often receive little support and recognition.
The cross-party Parliamentary Taskforce on Kinship Care, with the support of our secretariat the Family Rights Group, is running a survey to hear from kinship carers about their experience during the latest lockdown
