I know just how important local pubs are to community life in Aberconwy - and judging by how popular the Westminster Hall debate on this issue was, many other MPs in Westminster share that view.
Any decision to modify alcohol duty is of course a matter for the Treasury. In 2013, the Government took the decision to end the beer duty escalator, and beer duty has been frozen or cut several times since then.
When I contacted colleagues at the Treasury, to make them aware of the points you raise, they assured me that as a result of these changes, a typical pint is cheaper than it would have been had these measures not been introduced.
Duty on spirits has also been frozen over the past two years. So, I am encouraged that the price of a drink remains under careful scrutiny - and that the future of our pubs is safe.
Rydw i’n gwybod pa mor bwysig yw tafarnau lleol i fywyd cymunedol yn Aberconwy - ac o ystyried pa mor boblogaidd oedd y drafodaeth hon yn Neuadd San Steffan, mae’n amlwg bod ASau eraill yn San Steffan yn cytuno.
Mae unrhyw benderfyniad i newid y doll alcohol yn fater i’r Trysorlys wrth gwrs. Yn 2013, penderfynodd y Llywodraeth roi terfyn ar gynyddu’r doll cwrw ac mae’r doll honno wedi cael ei rhewi neu ei thorri sawl gwaith ers hynny.
Pan gysylltais â’m cydweithwyr yn y Trysorlys i ddweud wrthynt am y pwyntiau a godwyd gennych, fe wnaethant fy sicrhau bod peint arferol, o ganlyniad i’r newidiadau hyn, yn rhatach nag y byddai wedi bod pe na bai’r mesurau hyn wedi cael eu cyflwyno.
Mae’r doll ar wirodydd wedi cael ei rhewi hefyd dros y ddwy flynedd diwethaf. Felly, rydw i’n fodlon bod pris diodydd yn parhau i fod yn destun craffu gofalus - a bod dyfodol ein tafarnau’n ddiogel.
